ONE of the world’s largest metallurgical coal export facilities will install the Quintiq Application Suite for planning and scheduling its bulk commodities.

Queensland’s Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT) will utilise the software to optimise ship and train planning and scheduling, and increase the visibility of yard planning.

The facility handles many types of coal from various mines, coordinates train unloading, and manages onsite storage without cross-contamination.

According to the company, the software will factor in variations in weather, tides and maintenance to increase automation in planning and scheduling.

The system will increase throughput at the terminal to meet the growing demand for coal, and will be implemented by June 2009.
