THE NEWCASTLE Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG) says it will utilise Ultra-Dynamics’ Ultramoist microwave moisture monitor at its new coal export project at Kooragang Island, Port of Newcastle.

The manufacturer says it will supply the group with two moisture monitors. The units will be used to ensure compliance with the contract moisture specification as well as to control dust emissions at the site.

The NCIG claims the application is a demanding one, which will require the moisture monitors to measure the moisture content of deep beds of coal in excess of 600mm.

Ultramoist microwave moisture monitor has been applied to deep beds of coal including the need to measure through steel cord reinforced conveyor belts.
