Flaw detector keeps coal industry on its toes

TIME Group has released an ultrasonic flaw detector for use in coal mining applications.

The TUC320 may be used to test shaft hoisting and conveying devices used in coal mining operations.

According to the company, the model has three modes to detect malfunctions by pulse echo, dual and through-transmission methods.

The unit is able to scan between a range of 2.5mm and 5000mm with a resolution of 0.1mm, and between 2.5mm and 100mm with a resolution of 1mm.

Ultrasonic waves can also be selected to be positive half-wave, negative half-wave, full-wave and radio frequency.
