White Energy says clean coal can

WHITE Energy says the large-scale commercial production of clean coal is economically viable.

The Australian company says that in conjunction with Bayan Resources it has completed the construction of the world's largest clean coal plant at the Tabang mine, in Indonesia.

White Energy uses CSIRO technology to upgrade low-quality coal to reduce its moisture content, allowing it to be burnt cleaner. The coal has the same Co2 footprint as high-moisture coal but it creates more energy so that less is needed to produce the same comparable amount of power.

The company’s chief executive John Atkinson says the plant it its first full commercial production, large-scale operating plant, which will provide the first steady revenue stream to White Energy.
