Tamed coal trains, no longer off the rails

THERE have been delays on the Blackwater rail system after two trains collided but Queensland Rail has reported that operations are now back to normal.

The trains on the Blackwater rail system move coal from the Bowen Basin serving major miners including Rio Tinto.

Rio Tinto says that while deliveries to the port had been restricted by the collision, port stockpiles had been used and shipments were not affected.

The trains collided near Grantleigh, west of Rockhampton, on 21 April 2009. Queensland Rail reported there were no injuries.
