Rio Tinto funds community projects

RIO Tinto Coal Australia is helping to fund the upgrade and sealing of two Clermont grain roads.

The company operates two mines in Clermont, Blair Athol Mine and Clermont Mine. Both mines play an active role in the community through the Clermont Preferred Future project as well as the Clermont Community Consultative Committee (CCC).

The miner’s Clermont Mine General Manager construction Dave Lamb says together with Landcare and the Isaac Regional Council it has been advocating the road upgrades and State funding for the past 18 months.

The State Government has now agreed to match the miner’s contribution.
