A LIVEABILITY survey hopes to attract and retain mining staff in Mackay by promoting aspects of the region’s liveability.

The Regional Economic Development Corporation (REDC) is conducting the audit which targets residents in the area.

Rio Tinto says liveability is an important factor in attracting and maintaining staff in the coal mining region.

The survey aims to support Mackay’s infrastructure which is said to be under strain with the resources boom.
