THE CSIRO has announced the re-affirmation of an international coal research and development Joint Statement.

The agreement is to establish understanding about the principles and guidelines for the four parties to develop their relationship and discuss and establish future collaborative research projects.

The signatories included the CSIRO, ACA Low Emissions Technologies, Japan Coal Energy Centre and the Australian Coal Research.

The paper was signed at the Australia-Japan Coal Workshop in Brisbane on 26 June 2009.

CSIRO Exploration & Mining Chief Dr Mike McWilliams says low emission coal utilisation, reducing the environmental impact of coal production and mine safety are just some of the areas where the groups combined capabilities can help transform the industry.
