Gloucestor Coal awards $350 million mining contract

GLOUCESTER Coal has awarded a seven-year, $350 million mining contract to Leighton Mining.

Leighton Mining, a division of Leighton Holdings, will continue operations at the Duralie mine site in NSW. This includes planning, surface mining operations, maintenance and site rehabilitation work.

Gloucester says that existing contract holder, Leighton, has demonstrated proven performance and an ability to work with the company over an extended period.

The Duralie mine produces about 1.8 million tonnes of coking and thermal coal a year.
