DOWNER EDI has been awarded two major contracts with BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) in Queensland.

The contracts cover projects at BMA’s Goonyella Riverside and Norwich Park coal mines in the Bowen Basin.

BMA is Australia’s largest coal producer and a leader in the global industry.

Downer EDI says the contracts will increase its footprint on the QLD coal sector.

The three-year agreement at Goonyella is expected to commence mid-September 2008. Ultimately the project will involve 250 Downer EDI workers. The Norwich Park coal works are expected to finish in mid-2009.
