Coal mining forums set to unite industry and business sector

THE HUNTER Business Chamber is holding four mining forums throughout the remainder of 2009 in a bid to build better links between the region's business sector and the coal industry.

Rio Tinto Coal managing director, Bill Champion, will be the guest speaker at the first forum which will be held on 11 August 2009.

Business chamber CEO Peter Shinnick says the forums are a chance for the business community to gain a better understanding of the needs of the mining industry.

Shinnick claims that so much of the Hunter’s business is linked to the coal and energy industries and understanding the strategic thinking of the major players such as Rio Tinto Coal is vital for business planning.
