CFMEU says ACA should stop PR deception

The CONSTRUCTION Forestry Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) spoke about the Australian Coal Association’s (ACA) attempts to convince the public that the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) will put jobs at risk.

The CFMEU’s Queensland Mining Senior Vice President, Stuart Vaccaneo says the coal mining industry employment will continue to grow over the next 20 years, not decline.

Industry figures expose coal companies’ lightweight total investment in low emissions technology as less than 1 % of profit.

Vaccaneo claims coal companies are spending more time and money on slick PR campaigns to try to trick regional communities than they are on efforts to secure coal jobs through low emissions, or clean coal technology.
