Another 360 coal workers bite the mining dust

BHP Billiton has cut around 360 coal workers from its Saraji mine in central Queensland Macmahon lost a contract at the mine.

The miner says the adjustment of contractor levels to suit production requirements is our normal business practice.

The miner claims the cuts were part of its estimated 3300 job cuts from Australian operations predicted in January 2009.

BHP Billiton says the mining industry is facing difficult market conditions and the company is not immune from the impacts.
